Down dirt country trails you will find this hidden lake within the desolate pines of Econfina Creek Water Management Area. Whitewater Lake is located about 40 miles north of Panama City Beach and only 25 miles south of I-10 in Washington County, Florida.

As you can see from the above photo during the time of Violet Sky’s visit the lake water levels were up very high, causing the lower part of the dock to be submerged.

There is a narrow trail that extends down to the recreation area from the entrance road which allows for visitors to explore the wilderness that surrounds the park.

For miles around the tranquil serenity of the Econfina Creek Water Management Area provides a place for those that seek to escape the city and visit a more primitive place in the country.

For those wishing to visit Whitewater Lake visit for more information regarding park hours and directions.

The park offers a site for camping with a fee. Registration to stay at the sites are available at

There is a portable restroom near the site that offers guests a bathroom facility. Also a screened in room with a picnic table and grills gives visitors an area for picnics and cookouts.

The park features many amenities including camping, fishing (with license), a boat launch, hiking paths and an overall wonderful place for experiencing nature.

So if you are looking for a secluded place to visit in the rural woods of Northwest Florida, Whitewater Lake could be a unique place for you to experience.
